Use the popup menu to select the physical network interface from which you wish to capture packets. When FrameSeer opens a new document, it automatically sets this menu to your Primary Interface.
Mac OS X keeps track of your Primary Interface automatically. You can set an order of preference for your network interfaces in the Network panel of the System Preferences utility. For example, you might place your Built-In Ethernet interface first, followed by your AirPort interface. Your Primary Interface is the first interface in the list which is available.
How FrameSeer sets the interface popup menu when you open a new document may be your first clue as to what is wrong with your network. For example, if you think that your computer is using its Ethernet port but FrameSeer defaults to your AirPort card, you should probably check your connections.
FrameSeer reports the status of the selected interface. See Status Messages for more information.
FrameSeer only knows about physical interfaces that have been active when FrameSeer has also been active. For example, a modem interface is only active when the link is up. In order for FrameSeer to learn about an interface that is not always present, you need to launch FrameSeer when the interface is available. FrameSeer remembers all the interfaces it has ever seen. Thereafter, FrameSeer will show you the all the interfaces it remembers, even though one or more of those interfaces might not be available.
