Setting Preferences: Documents

The Preferences... command opens the preferences dialog. The following controls in the Document preferences tab affect how new capture documents are created:

Capture tab columns

Use this pulldown menu to select the columns that you wish to have displayed by default whenever a new FrameSeer document is opened.

Auto-open filter drawer

If enabled, FrameSeer will automatically show the Filter Selection drawer each time a new capture window is opened. You can control which side of the window the drawer opens on.

This setting only affects the drawer behaviour when the document is first opened. If you close and re-open the filters drawer, Mac OS X will decide which side of the window to use.

Save document location

If enabled, FrameSeer saves the location and size of the last document window that was closed (either explicitly closed by clicking the close button etc, or implicitly closed when FrameSeer quits). Thereafter, whenever FrameSeer opens a new document, it attempts to use the last-saved values.

Keep in mind that Mac OS X makes its own decisions about where windows can be placed. For example, the second or subsequent window opened during an application’s “session” is normally positioned in a staggered fashion.

Automatic scrolling during dynamic display

If enabled, FrameSeer will scroll the capture tab as new packets are added during Dynamic Display.

While a Dynamic Display is running, you can turn automatic scrolling on and off using the Auto scroll menu command.
