Simple Selection Techniques

Direct Selection

Capture tab

Packets can be selected in the Capture tab via any combination of clicking, Command-clicking and shift-clicking. The up and down arrow keys also change the selection.

Double-clicking on a packet in the Capture tab is a shortcut for switching to the Decode tab.

FrameSeer uses the most-recently-selected packet for certain operations, such as decoding, searching and selecting by criteria. The selection also controls what is copied to the clipboard and what is exported. See copying captures to the clipboard and the Save Selection... command for more information.

Decode tab

Both rows and columns can be selected in the Decode tab. The selection controls what is copied to the clipboard. See copying decodes to the clipboard for more information.

Log tab

Rows be selected in the Log tab for copying to the clipboard.

Select/All (Command+A)

Capture tab

Use the Select All command to select all the packets shown in the capture display.

Decode tab

Use the Select All command to select all the rows shown in the decode display.

Log tab

Use the Select All command to select all the log events shown in the display.

Select/Inverse

The Select Inverse command is only available in the Capture tab. Use it to select all packets which are not currently selected.

Goto... (Command+J)

The Goto... command jumps to a specific packet. If you enter a number outside the range of packets (or a value which is not a number), FrameSeer silently ignores the error.
